Naughty girl gotten the cane
ReplyDeleteDearest B, I do love seeing this oft-repeated picture of the girl in white, sitting at the desk above (O&P link).
Classically, this reminds me of my own corporal punishment received growing up in the 1960s & 70s; and it also reminds me of
waiting for Janus & Roue - monthly magazines - in the store in Atlanta in the 1970s/80s. It is a visceral picture if you will, B.
This was a classic Janus image, evoking many thoughts. Oh my!
This girl is waiting to get the cane from her father for lies & bad attitude shown to her mother. In my book & wide experience, the mother should administer the cane to naughty daughters' bare bottoms herself !!! And for sure, I advocated that to our church moms in our church community in the 1980s (endorsing my own mom's original, ongoing views)
But this scene has a paternal vibe to it, in the grand Janus tradition of old. Indeed, there is a lovely drawing on your blog, B, with your vibrant, signature, cobalt blue colors for skirt & knicks, where a daughter pulls down her panties (exposing her ultra-white, opaline botty) for the cane from papi in the study, just like above. Moreover, much to my delight, a plethora of Janus & Roue Readers' Letters confirmed this was a common occurrence in homes in the 1950s-80s: "wait 'til your father gets home, young lady!"
Regards the baring, B, I do love variety & y'all details. This lassie will bend forward over the desk, and pull her panties down to her knees in that famous "one swoop movement". As we know B, it is easier to bend & pull down knickers in one continuous movement of momentum & motion, when baring our botties for the parental cane or strap. No need for separate, staccato movements on baring botties. Why fight gravity eh ? Although I do believe that the baring/panties down process is a punishment in its own right. It should not be rushed. But it should not prolong the unbearable big sting either. If boredom sets in, then the sober effect of a smacked bottom is lost. A reasonable, continuous fast pace is needed for mom to maximise the caring, loving , "Harmless Hell" of normal, necessary discipline at home.
Oh my! In my younger years, mom herself, would pull down our 1950s shorts n 1950s white knicks to our knees (for sister & me) & we had to put our hands on our heads to lose our control & empowerment for the process. Petrified & humbled for sure, B. I always found the hands on heads very scary in yore, staring at the cane, and awaiting the knicks down, "breeze on your bared, soft botty moment of truth", goosebumps pending, prior to some brief, but powerful stern scolding from mother. Then SWISH-SMACK!
This girl above, will get 12 strokes of the cane on her bare buttocks, that is the punishment in this house. And then she pulls up her white panties and is sent to her room to think about her behaviour. Papi will sure deserve a nice cup of tea already, for undertaking the simple & necessary, if Spartan chore of smacking recalcitrant daughters' bare bottoms: simply good, strict parenting, B.
As they say, parents who care, cane! Don't spare the rod, already!
