I remember those school desks in the last pick with a gap at the back.
ReplyDeleteAfter a good slippering it was hard to sit properly on the hard wood so I would slide back so only my thighs were on the seat and my butt dangled over the space like hers.
I wonder if it was a design flaw ?

ReplyDeleteOh my! What a lovely, delicious, crushingly-cute extract from you here, B, thank you. I love this. That engineer was a real superhero, & my own God-fearing, harsh-spanker of a strict mother sure would have approved!!!
Alas, sadly B, the contemporary PC wokerati would not now approve of such a cute, useful, pragmatic desk for traditional, hardworking, exasperated moms who keep a cane in the cupboard for the bare bottoms of their recalcitrant daughters !
(That desk offers domestic catharsis. I could sure sell a few to the church moms, already ha-ha!!!)
That desk is an ingenious contraption & with his naughty daughter's bare bottom conveniently positioned for strict, loving punishment with the Rohrstock cane, how authentic & necessary it all is in evidence. With the desk trapping her legs & core movements to ensure full compliance. Corporal punishment was just normal in yore for y'all & this desk evidences this as a fascinating artefact.
Your recent post, B, on "Thursday, January 13, 2022 How to use an old school desk or a good chair"...shows this exact, same, great invention; and the second photo (Jan 13 2022) shows how a naughty daughter's bare bottom should be positioned when the rod is necessary for punishment. Oh my! This is such a rare, vintage photo from the mid 1970s in Janus.
I love the 6th photo here, above: black n white, vintage style of a naughty girl bending over for the cane on her bare botty. That is the exact punishment I gotten from my mother in my childhood, but my sister & me had to bend our bare, lily white botties over the sofa for mom's cane, in the living room way back in the 1960s...there was no ingenious spanking desk like this above, present in our house in Atlanta ha-ha! Oh my! Lovely cute post, already.
Again B, I am reminded of that wise, eternal Janus quote from the mid 1970s, which became my First Amendment: that "naughty daughters should receive a sensible knickers-down caning at home". Oh my! sure thing, B. It's normal, harmless & necessary.
