GJC - beyond wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI was mesmerised in the 1990s/2000s, to discover the superlative art of British artist, George Jackson Churchward, B. Oh my! I so utterly adore his timeless drawings of good, Spartan moms n pops administering the hand, hairbrush, tawse & cane to the very bare bottoms of their recalcitrant daughters in the appropriate manner. This was how it gotten done in not too distant times.
GJC offered such an admirable riposte to the ascending PC nonsense & wokerati sensitivities with his austere, Spartan, authentic pictures of girls having their bare botties soundly smacked by good parents & teachers. And he portrayed the very essence of good, normal, proper 1950s values & discipline.
I loved the powerful scenes and angles, like OTK drawing one, above. And drawing six too. And he specialised in capturing the sober stillness of the "panties down, moment of truth, botty reveal" with his drawings.
Oh my! One of my absolute GJC favourites (not on your blog, B) is the black n white sketch of a daughter across papa's knee. We see the back of her dad, sitting on a stool, with the daughter firmly secured & ideally positioned across his knee for a proper spanking.
Father is pulling down her panties & her chubby, round botty is totally uncovered already, (and now a perfect target for domestic justice! ) & the heavy, wooden hairbrush is menacing on the table. The naughty girl's conservative, smart dress and pretty petticoat have been duly raised & the hapless daughter is desperately protesting,
"Daddy! No!! Please!! I'm sorry!! Don't!! No!! No!!"
Oh yes, lessons are best learned over a bare bottom, B. And it is such a powerful, realistic, crushingly-cute scene that would have been so common in yore - a daughter's sensitive, bare botty skin is gonna be smacked so hard with daddy's hair brush to a scarlet hue, which is the best, necessary way of dealing with her bad behaviour, with kind yet stern chastisement. Naughty steps are not required, B.
