ReplyDeleteThese three are a super-fave for me, B. Oh my! I would have all three adorn the front cover of my memoirs, for sure! Especially the first two: face & botty showing peril! Perfect punishment for naughty princess brats, B.
This was all routine & normal chastisement at home (in our living room) for me & my sister growing up in the 1960s. Spankings, "whoopings" with the thin, flexible cane on our bare buttocks was the punishment from mom! Groundings did not exist, sadly!! Just a VERY well-smacked bottom!
Corporal punishment was just a fact of life for y'all in 60s' Georgia. Albeit an important & memorable aspect of strict, religious, normal family life in our Christian suburb.
Photo 1: Lil' missy gasps as the first few hard smacks of the cane on unprotected, uber-sensitive, botty skin takes your breath away. I remember it so well, B. Our stern, God-fearing mother sure did not intend to offer our naughty, fairy-skinned botties any sort of protective covering from the cane (aka knickers always pulled down!) It is the only way, B. It is perfectly safe. It is perfectly harmless. But it stings to Hell and back. Sure thing. That is the idea, B !

...as my mother would say in her scary, brief manner (when I asked, rhetorically, why we always gotten whipped on a bare botty) We called the cane, the "hornets nest", due to its obvious effect on our tender bare bums (we gotten twelve strokes. Oh my!)
I'll be 64 in the new year, B, and I always gotten to advocate that mom was absolutely right to tan our bare backsides soundly this way: sure taught us right from wrong, B! These photos are good evidence of that (from early Janus) & show a normal way of disciplining daughters in yore.
Truly awesome, all three photos - also love the third photo in the series above: a nostalgic, normal view of my sister having her bare bottom smacked withe the "rod " in front of God! Par for the course.
