What a gorgeous classic, already, B?! First, memories of Roue in the 1970s, when this girl featured on Alan Bell's truly awesome films. Oh my! This was a golden age of films n magazines, albeit before models started to become "celebrities" known by their names eg Sophie Fennington, later in the 1980s. But in the late 70s, early 80s, their was only a loose reference to girls like, Norton, Slocombe and Filly here as understated, yet wonderful pioneering models.
Secondly, rueful memories myself (Roue-ful) of how mom's cane whistled hard across our bare botties when sister & me were naughty in the 1960s & 70s! Photo 4 is authentic. Ouchiees! Spartan punishment on bare buttocks was routine & normal for us.
One Janus letter: a good lady writes how she gotten a cane for her two young girls - "At first I used it over knickers, but then I very quickly realised that their bottoms needed to be bare for them to feel it and start their crying." YUP! Boo-Hoo! Y'all princess' botties need to be very sensitive n very bare for the cane, B! So devastatingly cute n candid :-)
Another mom kept a cane in the kitchen for "hooliganism" from her two daughters in the 1960s. She gave spontaneous punishments: "my girls would bend over with their hands on their knees. I lifted their skirts and slipped down their knickers before giving them six of the best". Oh dear. Boo-Hoo! Sooooo nasty but kind & reassuring, on a bare botty, B!! It sure is the only way. Again, so delightful, B :-)
One Janus good lady writes, 1970s, "I was a child of very strict parents and daddy often used the cane on my bare bottom. It did me a lot of good!". Well, yes, sure thing, B. Super concise. Lovely!!
One Janus pop writes,1970s , living in Germany after the war, typical of British & American officers; about chastising his daughter with the traditional, widely-used, German Rohrstock cane, with skirts & petticoats hoisted, & knicks duly pulled down. Well, it stings! "Spankings were given on the bare bottom". It's a brief letter about the Rohrstock.
On Janus father describes disciplining his daughters with the cane: "I keep up tradition as much as I keep knickers down, to give them the benefit of a good British upbringing. All punishments are on the bare bottom....seeing her sister's bare bottom collect six sharp red wheals from the cane tends to have a marvelous effect on behaviour & obedience". Well, I quite agree, B!
Another helpful gentleman visits a friend - a single mom of two young daughters. One girl is very rude & mom takes her away for scolding. Mom then takes her daughter into a side room, & suddenly comes back to retrieves a cane from the shelf. The writer sees the daughter "bending over obediently, skirt lifted & knickers pulled down, her little, bare, white bottom waiting for the cane".

Brilliant quoting of Janus letters! This is really one of the best classic set of pics, and very hard to match! My fav pics have to be 2 and 3, presenting the cane and waiting for it with knickers down and holding her skirt up, but the last pic, the rubbing one is also great! Hugs and smackies :) B xx

Yes, the offering of the cane is part of this classic, photo 2. Meek acceptance & defeat. Oh my! And I love the rather wayward hand on photo 4, B: a forlorn botty defence, already. Desperation to the last :-) Or perhaps an attempted assuage of the sizzling skin of the orthodox surface :-)
