Number 3 is brilliant, B! Just imagine this picture & indeed all of your colorized drawings in a printed special edition magazine along with all the original Janus letters. Oh my! That would be funny, but beyond sensational! I love the juxtaposition of this zesty modern along with the cold, Spartan reality of the original, authentic vintage material. Spanking curation, B, if you will :-)
You've even gotten the wacky orange in drawing 3 :-) And naturally, I do so like the cobalt blue - especially as it accentuates the tender, white hue of the buttocks; making them seem more bare & vulnerable (ditto effect on drawing 4). The botty stripes on 3 are wonderful too. STINGY! Boo-Hoo!
Number 4 is fabulous too - reminds me of my normal if Spartan childhood punishment, skirt lifted clear of a bare backside for the cane. Good, standard punishment in my book, B: a well-smacked bottom.
I'm also thinking about (imagining) a contextualization of all Paula Meadows' Janus drawings from the early 1980s in a modern Janus setting. In some ways, B, the idea & all your art actually rejuvenates all those lovely Readers' Letters into a new genre, or at least, a new presentation. Hugs n salutary smackabotties, B. Botty wellness & pray, survival - why, your colorizations evoke that wonderful sense of humour that y'all covet, B. I chuckle all the time when re-visiting your previous posts over the years. Just as I was laughing on discovering the latest Janus or Roue back in the 1970s & 80s. There's a powerful sense of schadenfreude too, which adds a certain frisson & scary excitement. I vividly recall y'all princess brats trying to get one of us into trouble in church or wherever, so that a pair of panties gotten pulled down & an alabaster-white botty gotten blistered by mom's hairbrush. On witnessing a fairest, bare spanking, we girls would not be LOL. God forbid. But we sure would be laughing internally :-)
Oh my! There was performative precociousness all around, as we princess besties gathered at church, in the park, BBQs, sleepovers etc. Avoiding a bare, red botty, hands on head, was the very essence of survival, B. A definition of well being. A lightness of being. And a communal sense of wicked humour & Spartan "noir" comedy was always in the mix, B. I think your colorizations bring that all back to life so compellingly!
