    Paddle versus cane

    Taking inspiration from my kind but strict, conservative, religious mother (who was ferociously kind!), I always gotten to say, B; that

    ...spankings at school were upon clothed bottoms. But spankings at home were upon unclothed bottoms!

    Yup! Sure thing, B! Panties down. Botties all bare at home for the rod! Absolutely right too, B! And the rod for me and my sister growing up in the 1960s, was the thin, flexible, quality rattan cane, not in fact a paddle. Never a paddle. Never a strap. Always the cane.

    Oh my! At school y'all gotten the paddle in Georgia....over clothed bottoms naturally! Sister & I never gotten spanked at school. Most daughters gotten spanked at home. And most gotten in on the bare skin of their bums, knickers down. That was the way of the South, B!! Quite right too in my opinion. No wishy-washy nonsense.

    The paddle was of course, quite popular in the South, and in America as a whole. Although I say that the strap/belt is probably even more popular.
    Sister & I gotten the terrible, whippy, cane throughout our childhoods (it was a less used implement in the US) simply because mom had gotten the cane as a lil' girl from her own mother, growing up in the 1930s/40s. Mom always gotten it on her bare backside at home, unsurprisingly. Naturally, mom then used the cane on we girls, already. I first gotten it before my 7th birthday. Oh my! I remember the scary shock of having my panties pulled down for a good whooping on my bare botty. On my! I screamed like Hell. Oh my! The sting! My poor naked botty! That was the idea of punishment!
    .....the cane was more than a gamechanger as far as a smacked bottom was concerned B. Life changed forever.

    At first my younger sister was spared the cane, (hairbrush to bare botty continued for her) but alas, all too soon, mom simply lost patience (with two punishment techniques) & decided my sister's chubby, bare buttocks should also feel the rattan "hornets nest". And so sadly, she gotten it sooner that yours truly had done!!

    In fairness, B, the cane on a bare bum is totally fair and harmless for recalcitrant princess brats in my view. Oh my! It was effective, & exactly what we girls deserved back in yore. Indeed, I have always advocated the cane as appropriate, stern "knickers down tickle tail" for church moms to discipline their wayward daughters, B! And perfectly designed to sting on unclothed, tender-skinned bottoms for sure, B!!

      And in French the cane is called la trique thus the expression eleve à la trique... and one graduated from the martinet to the belt and the trique...

    How fascinating...
    "Eleve a la trique" is a truly delightful phrase, thank you, dearest B.
    And one entirely appropriate for naughty daughters, "cul nu", in my book, B. Albeit a rather Ol' fashioned book (pray, unfashionable book!!) , these days!!
    Why yes, I am stricter than most, B, but for me aged 65, my mother simply taught me many epochs back, to be "ferociously kind" in the traditional fashion, by way of "tough love:" AKA a stinging bottom!
    Out comes the whippy-thin cane, and down come the panties!
