    Cane to bottyland - art number 3. The cane is mommy's best friend.

    Love all these, B. And Oh my! Oh my!, number 3 is one of my absolute fave pics of all time, so thank you for the lovely colouring, B.

    I remember it so vividly in Janus the first time around, in the early 1980s, as a black n white drawing. Awesome it is!! That drawing was a fact of life for me. A signature art piece. A pic paints a thousand words n all !!

    Oh my! This blubbering (red bottomed ) girl in drawing 3, is me growing up in the 1960s & 70s with a strict, loving , religious mother. A normal Southern, God-fearing mom if you will ! The strict, family mantra for me & my sister as young daughters was "spare the rod spoil the child" Naughty steps had not gotten invented & a smacked bottom was the only discipline that my mother believed in ....and used.....getting down to bare essentials with no waste of harsh effort or time !!

    It was ferociously kind: as from the mid-1960s mom kept a quality, whippy- thin rattan cane (shown powerfully in the drawing) handy in the cupboard for the firm discipline applied to the sensitive bare skin of our naughty princess botties. We gotten 12 strokes....whistling across our unprotected lily white buttocks. It was Hell on earth. And, quite right too. In my view it was normal & necessary chastisement. Sure whipped us into shape and yes, when those Church moms asked me & discussed raising daughters in the 1980s: cane to bare botty was indeed my only advocacy when asked for advice. No naughty steps required. Tantrums tamed. Attitudes adjusted !

    Why it was harsh, but fair & totally harmless, B. No half-measures needed either. The pic shows the scene required, B: dresses n petticoats up girls. Yes, panties down. Tender bare botties on show for the rattan rod at once !!! It 's just traditional attitude adjustment in my book !

    I love the religious scribes artefacts on the wall, that was exactly the vibe in our Christian household, B. Why, in y'all girls households, in Georgia back then!!! I also love the stripes on her bottom. Yup! My poor botty looked exactly the same in my childhood countless times when I gotten naughty a bunch !!! Thank the Lord too in retrospect....it taught me right from wrong, dearest, B!

      Number 3 is a lovely old Paula drawing. I started to colorize it with AI and as usual it over did the yellow.
      12 strokes is quite severed, always 12 ? What about lesser offenses ?
