The Gym Lesson 1979 - a gamehanger (pun intended)
ReplyDeleteOh my! This scene is from Blushes early 1980s, B, when I was attending my Atlanta gym & when the Jane Fonda aerobics "pop mob" craze was in full swing. I was early into my career at a big Atlanta corp - good times!!
But it was earlier in 1979, when the Janus film, The Gym Lesson emerged, that the gamechanger occurred for me. In 1979, Volume 8 of Janus, gave y'all twelve editions of reporting that focused on naughty daughters having their bare botties caned by good strict parents, school teachers or carers in authority. It was the golden age for my own discovery. CP was normal. PC did not exist.
The silent Gym Lesson film, plus photos (the "stills") in Volume 8 number 7, so mesmerised me in 1979. The film & Janus front cover featured a naughty girl, smoking in the gym, who gotten her panties pulled down and her bare botty caned by the strict gym mistress. Quite right too! I sure approved. I was a strictly raised Christian teen, but I had never seen such photos or media content.
Oh my! For sure, this was one of the first bare bottom canings I saw in Janus - albeit having of course, seen my sister's bare white botty gotten the cane from our mother countless times as a naughty child/teen growing up in the 1960s & recent 70s (at that precise time)
The Gym Lesson seemed so normal, because corporal punishment itself was so normal & necessary for y'all daughters in yore. I mean the Church ministers strongly advocated it every week in their sermons and Bible Class, already, God darn it!!
And so having the fairest, tender skin on your bare botty soundly skelped by parents who believed in tough love for harmless, required salutary discipline...was routine in America & the UK alike. CP was par for the course. And wokerati platforms & naughty step were light years' away, thank the Lord, B!
In 1979, The Gym Lesson saw me enjoying my student days at University, & indeed loving my own sports: cheerleading, tennis & track n field. And for sure, the combination of sports and spanking was quite normal growing up in a religious, strict suburb in Georgia. Y'all gotten whuppin's!! Today, it goes without saying that the gorgeous Sarah Gregory's "Cheerleader Spankings" is uniquely superlative in the sports/spanking genre, B. The gym lesson indeed!
Those 1979 Volume 8 editions of Janus wonderfully featured daughters having their bare bottoms caned or spanked on the front covers. This was an unique moment (sadly brief for that year) in spanking media - notably in Vol 8, number 3, with a recalcitrant daughter having her bare backside soundly spanked over her father's knee on the front cover (photo from The Riding Lesson film)
But moreover, it was actually the third Harrison Marks' film, The School Lesson (front cover and silent movie), Volume 8 number 12, which was the most powerful, seminal, Damascene Conversion for me - as the two naughty girls gotten their knickers pulled down and caned on their bare botties at school, just like my sister & I gotten a bunch at home from mom in our childhoods. That magazine was compelling, all editions of Volume 8 were compelling, B.
The maxim "spare the rod, spoil the child" was the rule of life for me growing up! And Janus was a normal, harmless, authentic translation & coverage of our required whoopings from mom, growing up in 1980s Georgia. Yup! Y'all girls gotten spanked!!
