Delightful art. I remember buying the magazines for the art more than anything. They definitely stood out.

DeleteEarly, pioneering drawings from Roue - wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh my! These elicit such visceral, nostalgic feelings of "awe yore", B.
These were some of the earliest spanking pictures I ever saw - well, apart from my 1960s childhood comics ha-ha! But my comics did not show bare bottomed spankings (cue fascinating if scary conversations with my mother) & so were totally unrealistic, of course.
I was mesmerised to discover these in the first, early Roue editions, 1978 & 1979. They preceded & indeed inspired the golden age of spanking art of the early 1980s - heralding Paula Meadows, Julian Guille, Thorn, Hardcastle, Anton, Alex of EB etc. As a university student in the late 1970s, I discovered Janus in the store, then Roue, & I was more than intrigued with authentic, powerful images, like these shown here. Both art & photos. They were beautiful, realistic & fact-based evidence of fine CP reporting.
I gotten a big bunch of corporal punishment on my bare bottom as a child raised in a happy, kind, Christian, conservative, typical Southern family in Atlanta. Whuppin's were normal & necessary for y'all daughters. It was a mark of good, kind parenting & steadfast foundation of family values, and the local church ministers (and parents n neighbours) strongly advocated sound bare bottom spankings with the strap, switch, paddle or cane (in my own case) Why, I heard the maxim, "spare the rod spoil the child" every week from someone, somewhere, B...if not every darn day!!
I love the second from last image (number 7) because very simply: that is exactly how I was chastised by mom at home with the rod of correction: with my skirt duly raised & my traditional, full-sized-1950s-style cotton, white panties pulled down to my knees only (never removed) for the spanking stick repeatedly upon the sensitive bare skin of my pudgy, white botty.
Oh my! I gotten my botty blistered real sore! The stick was a much-feared, flexible, thin, quality, rattan cane that mom had especially purchased for my sister's & my bare backsides. Dad was away on business a bunch & so mother gotten this new, dreaded botty smacker (to replace the hairbrush/wooden spoon of our early years) to keep sister & me strongly in line. Sure thing, B - it stung like absolute Merry hell on a bare bum!! That was the idea, naturally. Oh my!
This drawing number 7, I found so alluring. It shows that a good smack with the cane on your bare botty ( we gotten a baker's dozen from mom!!) is totally harmless, safe & salutary!! And so I always agreed with my mom's traditional, religious, uncompromising approach to CP...especially after I stopped receiving it when older ha-ha! Panties pulled down is also most humbling & emphasises how naughty the daughter has been, already! It focuses the mind. The naughty step would not have worked for me!! The cane sure did.
I also love drawing three. Remembering the great angle & chequered floor! This was the angled view I gotten of my sister when she was having her bare botty whooped with mom's cane (over the sofa) or indeed the hairbrush over mom's knee before, early 1960s. The sight & loud sound of my lovely lil' sister's bare, round chubby (we we sporty, strong, stocky girls) fairy-soft buttocks & stark sun tan lines, turning from a paler-shade-of-dazzling-alabaster-white to a bright scarlet was a normal, routine event in our strict house. CP in front of God was necessary & never questioned by y'all.
Yup! I will never forget these Roue drawings (by the pioneering Roue owner, Alan Bell, I think) or indeed the many thousands of spanking-art images that I gotten to see during the next forty four years!!! Many on your awesome blog, B.
Thanks a bunch, B.
