ReplyDeleteI so love this "how to guide for salutary daughters' discipline", B! A good, Ol' fashioned photographic sequence of how things should be done. I love the knickers down being shown - photo square on the middle section.
In America we had articles and advocacy in church on "tough love", "spanking with love" and "dare to discipline" in the 1970s, building upon traditional guidance and family values from the 1950s and 60s
As a naughty child born 1959, I gotten whooped a lot by my Christian, strict mother when I was naughty exactly as shown in the photo: panties pulled down for the flexible, rattan cane. A traumatic yet harmless baker's dozen sure made my unprotected, soft, sensitive, fair botty skin sting like absolute Hell! That was the idea!
But thank the Lord, I sure learned respect, responsibility, accountability, hard work and consideration for others over time, B. The cane was always in the cupboard for sister and me. For our bare botties every time too!! Timeouts and naughty steps were not invented and indeed wete light years' away. Oh my!
When daughters throw tantrums in the store or mall...this photo sequence shows long suffering moms how to tan their bare backsides at home!!
