The gravity weighs heavy - sober, serious, scary & sombre. Oh my! How traumatic, B ? Boo-Hoo! But, did we ever focus on the actual detail & narrative of that scolding in our moment of distress, B ?
Why, no! I often gotten distracted, understandably, (& deaf by default) by mom's flexible, thin cane smacking repeatedly against her palms or finger tips. Oh my! An ominous sound & portent of rattan upon bare skin!!
Why, I was naturally more relaxed & focused if my lil' sister was standing in this position (and my own fair, bare, sensitive botty was not in the firing line!!) Boo-Hoo!

A typically delightful phrase from a mother talking about the bare bottom strappings she & her sisters gotten from mom n pop in the 1950s. Such a cute line. Candidly, she says how her own three young girls now have to bare their bums for the strap, already! I sure agree with that, B.
I sooo love the Janus letters et al, & some wonderful choice words n narratives from 1970s yore (also referring to generational spankings in the 1940s & 50s too)

This obvious, practical, commonsense, bare bottom rule was emphasised in Janus letters every month in the 70s. Baring naughty girls bottoms for the cane, strap or slipper was a fact of life in the UK back then (as it was elsewhere like America).
"Wise moms know that there simply are those times when a daughter needs to be soundly blistered on her bare bottom. When that time comes, the hairbrush or strap needs to come out and the panties need to go down!" Definitely a wise mom here, B.

In 1960s Atlanta, I gotten raised in a religious matriarchal group of wonderful, kind, but stern, God-fearing church moms. Dads were at work. Moms were the expert, botty-smackers-in-chief, B!!!!
