Wonderful, thank you, B. I remember this one. I gotten to be a big fan of Miss Elizabeth Simpson from the get go. Elizabeth Simpson was a leader in the genre (in the 2000s) prior to Sarah Gregory emerging onto the scene. I mentioned Apron Stings before. I loved Miss Simpson as an authentic, naughty daughter & schoolgirl, and then later as a strict, kind aunty to her naughty lil' niece - Miss Rosaleen Young. A dynamic duo they sure were.
I recall a most alluring interview, some 20 years' ago already, when Miss Simpson discussed growing up to feel the hard smack of the classic, black plimsoll across her bare bottom from her strict father when she was naughty at home. Naturally, this was normal & necessary for daughters in the UK in the 1950s-1980s, as originally detailed by Janus, of course, in the 1970s (including Readers' Letters, already).
Oh my! I have always considered the nasty, bendy, cheap & accessible, hard, rubber-soled, standard-edition plimsoll shoe to be an excellent botty smacker when applied to a naughty girl's sensitive, bare seat, B. It is a light, very stingy implement & is a far better "rod of correction" than the wooden paddles that were popular in America when I was growing up in 1960s Georgia (& are still popular in the US today, especially in the South) Oh the nostalgia, B. Hugs n smackies :-) Brenda xx
