I so remember when Elizabeth Simpson (teacher above), emerged onto the scene as a naughty niece and daughter in the late 90s/ early 2000s. She was a worthy Oscar winner with her authenticity and sad, controlled whimpering. And I was more than intrigued to see an interview where she described the spankings she received growing from her strict father : she gotten her bare botty soundly skelped with the classic, black, cheap n cheerful, bendy, hard plimsoll that was a standard edition (for UK gym lessons) in the 1950s to recent times. It was a common punishment for naugjty girls as an alternative to the cane at home. No designer sneakers endured!
Oh my! For sure, B, many a naughty daughter would feel the ferocious sting of the plimsoll across their bare bottoms from mom or pop, as part of normal, necessary CP at home in yore. I always gotten to believe that the bendy, hard plimsoll was a far superior botty smacker than the American wooden paddle, which frequented homes in my home State of Georgia and the US as a whole. The paddle was less popular than the strap in the South, popular being an odd, operative word ha-ha! Bravo the Brits for supporting the iconic, ubiquitous plimsoll as a medicinal, salutary implement for tickie-tail on recalcitrant daughters' bare buttocks (extremely effective and totally harmless). And bravo Miss Simpson for receiving exactly that punishment while being raised in a traditional, Ol' fashioned home where naughty steps were not used. Hugs n spanks, B. Brenda xx
