  1. All-American paddle versus the cane, plimsoll, martinet, tawse et al.

I love the second photo 2, the bottom reveal or "breeze on the botty moment". Also love the final photo with the frantic rub & start of the stingy-hoppy princess-brat dance...or the Brat War Dance (a wonderful term coined by blogger of, "A German Brat", Belinda Kruger, on your links)

Oh my! I do not like the paddle, B!!! And I never gotten spanked with the paddle in my childhood. Our school used the paddle, on clothed bottoms, of course. I never gotten spanked at school. At home mom or dad never used it. At home we gotten the cane, and mom (& dad) always pulled our panties down: bare botty was the rule without exceptions from the earliest to the last punishments throughout the 1960s & 70s. It sure made sense & I agreed this was the only way a whooping should be administered. As a naughty child, I expected that my bottom should be bared for the cane (pray, why should it not?), and I never thought anything of it. Same for my younger sister - it was simply how chastisement was done in our house. In fact most daughters gotten whooped on their bare backsides in the American South. It was just normal protocol, B.

Janus & Roue in the 1970s taught me that British girls felt the cane or the plimsoll across their bare bottoms from good, strict parents. I sure felt an affinity with girls who gotten the cane. I was also fascinated with the idea of the classic, cheap & ubiquitous British plimsoll smacking the bare backsides of girls in their living rooms or bedrooms after misdeeds!

Oh my! I have always believed that the plimsoll is a far superior bottom smacker for naughty daughters than the paddle because its pure "flexibility" (light, hard, bendy sole with flexible, light canvas uppers) and indeed overall "physics" of the implement leaves a ferocious sting on the sensitive bare skin covering our buttocks (that is the point of a spanking), whereas the paddle gives an almighty THUD!! Doh!

As a Southern belle who's bare backside received the cane at home countless times growing up, I always supported the "stingy nature" of the cane, martinet, tawse and plimsoll....not the big paddle. Fascinatingly, the lovely Elizabeth Simpson of the UK gotten the slipper on her bare bottom from her strict pop growing up in the 1980s (Elizabeth worked with Roasleen Young, of course) and also, the pioneering female journalist Joan Bakewell also gotten her bare backside tanned regularly with a plimsoll by her mother, growing up in the 1930s & 1940s.

These facts are documented in interviews (and biographies in Bakewell's case) and I always craved these sort of facts & the OBB, in the Readers' Letters of Janus, Roue, Blushes, London Life and Martinet magazine in the 1970s & 80s. After University, I was a career girl in a big Atlanta corp, earning good money, & I spent my dollars on CP research & magazines. Ha-ha! Oh my!!! I sure never regretted those purchases, B.

This photo montage also reminds me of details of my childhood discipline & those of my girlfriends. When does mom pull down our panties for a spanking with the cane? And when did I have to pull them down myself for a whuppin'. I am 64 very soon. And this is an interesting dilemma, debate & indeed plethora of personal experience from yore...for all we girls, B!!!
Big hugs & a bunch of thanks
    Nostalgic Brenda xx
