Eilean Beithe's drawings are an artistic study in their own right already, B. Both the final drawing 6 & the sketch on your O&P link. Lovely!
Drawing 6 reminds me of the gorgeous Scottish lassie, Sheena McBride, who appeared in Janus 62 & 67 in her traditional tartan garb (1987). Oh my! Sheena said in her interview (Janus 62), how her papi would chastise her on her bare botty with the Lochgelly tawse in the traditional, Spartan fashion, when she was naughty growing up in the 1970s. And indeed, how a "guid skelping" on a bare bottom was just a normal, necessary fact of life back then. I sure agreed with Sheena's sentiments & experiences on reading her account, B way back in 1987.
Like Le Martinet Francais, the iconic Lochgelly tawse was designed to sting on tender, bare princess bottoms. Pragmatic Purpose in Practice, B. No wishy-washy nonsense!
It was not designed to penetrate through tartan skirts, dresses, panties, knicks, culottes or breeks, B! And neither was my mom's rattan cane, which I am receiving on the second drawing above, B!! Boo-Hoo! Also love picture 3 - "mommy's best friend": the Mason Pearson hairbrush. And naughty lil' Charlotte is about to receive the same Lochgelly tawse on her unprotected buttocks from Asa, above in the kitchen photo, B. That's how it gotten done. Hugs n smackies n big thanks. Strict Brenda xx
Not sure, thinking that the 3rd drawing isn't Hardcastle, could be Paula Meadows. Hard choice, my fav could be the second one, and both EB ! Hugs and smackies :) B xx
