"her mother lifted her skirt out of the way, and I could see her knickers - pale blue with little yellow flowers. Her mother pulled them down to her knees and I was looking at a very small, very white bottom."
Oh my! A good lady recounts corporal punishment as a child in the 1950s, (in her own letter to Janus, 1970s) & watching her sister receive the cane from mom, over the chair, "six of the best" on a bare botty, as was traditional in good homes in the UK; & documented a thousand times in the letters of Janus, Roue & Blushes.
These letters were beyond MESMERIZING for me, B, when I discovered them in my late teens as a student, late 1970s, not least because my own fairest, bare botty skin gotten whipped with the rattan cane a zillion times as a child in the 1960s & 70s. And I watched my sister gotten the same. It was just a normal fact of life in our religious, strict, loving household.
I absolutely craved these letters, B. And now I am re-discovering them at a leisurely pace, four to five decades later. It's a tough job, B, but someone has gotten to do it, as they say!!
Another good lady writes a beautiful, succinct introduction to her her letter
"I was a child of very strict parents and daddy often used the cane on my bare bottom. It did me a lot of good!".
Oh my! How visceral, B. Love that. Why, yes, I gotten the same as a child! I coveted factual statements like this, free from contrived situations, or bizarre rituals. Just plain real-life accounts of CP.
One gentleman talks about his first marriage to a lady who had two young daughters & how naturally, he "agreed to discipline them belatedly, but effectively as I could". He purchased a cane which he applied to their bare backsides when they misbehaved:
"They were defiant and unruly, & the first month was a terrible struggle I remember well. My wife and I had to hold them down for their canings, pulling kickers down."
In due course, the girls cooperated, already, accepting their punishment.
"I sent her to get the cane & she returned with alacrity and it. I ordered her over the side of the table & ordered her knicks down. She got six."
Later, a second marriage God blessed him with his own daughter, and that same cane was then used on her bare bottom, naturally (as for his step-daughters) He continues, "I keep up tradition as much as I keep knickers down, to give them the benefit of a good British upbringing. All punishments are on the bare bottom....seeing her sister's bare bottom collect six sharp red wheals from the cane tends to have a marvelous effect on behaviour & obedience".
Well, I quite agree, B!
Indeed, "cane to bare botty," as I summarise it, was the salutary treatment I recommended fellow church moms use for naughty daughters' discipline (in the Christian church tradition) back in the 1980s. It did me good. Many moms adopted it, others continued with the traditional Southern strap. That lovely final drawing, flowery wallpaper already, sure sets the familiar scene of angry, exasperated moms regaining catharsis & calmness perfectly!!!
