I graduated to the cane, B, just before my 7th birthday. At fist, I gotten it peppering down on my bare botty over mom's knee. Then I soon had to bend over the sofa for the 12 strokes, whistling across my bare buttocks. The scolding, knicks down baring was the same in eah case . Naturally, my poor sister gotten the cane on her bare bum at an earlier age. Mom initially only caned myself, but she soon realized that "cane to botty land" was totally harmless, safe, kind & salutary...and it STINGS!! (& it's a permanent, scary pre-emptive, warning & punishment threat for daughters !!!) ....and so my sister's panties soon gotten pulled down for the rattan rod before time, alas, for her poor unprotected botty & mine, the hairbrush was no more for both of us.
Likewise in the 1980s/90s I suggested that church moms purchase a cane for their naughty daughters bare bottoms, B. They asked my learned opinion & experience, aligned with Christian values & Southern traditions!!! There was no PC in Georgia & don't "spare the rod" was the strict, unquestioned, dominant & unanimous mantra in our church. CP was a rule at home. And I dismissed the idea hat the cane was a formal implement, given to long rituals. It can be used quickly, efficiently, & routinely like a wooden spoon. I advocated keeping the cane at the front of the cupboard - for when naughty bare bottoms needed to be chastised! Dresses up, panties down for the cane in the kitchen or living room is quick, spontaneous & effective in my experience, B!
Indeed one Janus mother writes (1980s) - she kept a cane in the kitchen for "hooliganism" from her two daughters in the 1960s. She gave spontaneous punishments: "my girls would bend over with their hands on their knees. I lifted their skirts and slipped down their knickers before giving them six of the best". Oh dear. Boo-Hoo! Sooooo nasty but kind & reassuring, on a bare botty, B!! And very quick too! I advocate this. No need for long ceremonies or rituals. It sure is the only way.
Another Janus gentleman witnesses a normal, spontaneous smacked bottom for a friend's naughty daughter - the cane is used quickly, B, as I have always vouched for. CP does not require prolonged grandstanding. This man's friend is a single mom of two young daughters. One girl is very rude & so mom takes her away for scolding. Mom then takes her daughter into a side room for punishment, & suddenly comes back to retrieve the trusted cane from the kitchen shelf. The writer sees the daughter "bending over obediently, skirt lifted & knickers pulled down, her little, bare, white bottom waiting for the cane". A delightful scene B. Love the image of the bare, white, princess botty in view, waiting for just desserts, before the door is shut & mom carries out the sentence in front of God, but not in front of her guest. And we are reminded how bare bottom whoopings with the cane, martinet or strap were just normal & necessary in good households in yore. Oh my!
For sure, some Janus letters focused on slightly more formal caning experiences. One lady who I quoted before, writes of her childhood spankings, visiting her father's study with her mom. Papa passed sentence which was always the same: six of the best with the cane on bare buttocks.
Mom & daughter then went upstairs to a spare room. The young girl knelt on a sturdy, single-backed chair, with leather seat, leaning over. She raised her skirt & petticoat & held them up in position for the duration. Mother slipped her daughter's knickers down to her knees & administered six with the cane. This procedure was frequent in the writer's childhood without much variation. That was the punishment, B. She learned her lessons good! Hugs n smackies, lovely post, thank you, B.
