Why, "Botty Land" is the unbearably delightful, ferociously cute phrase from Mrs Matthews last week: on Momma Spankings, "1940s Maternal Discipline, Scene One." Wonderful!
I always gotten to say "cane to bare botty" over the years, B, which was my brief, candid, strict, succinct advice to church moms in the 1980s, asking me about raising daughters & discipline at home in the Christian, Southern tradition!! PC did not exist in Georgia back then, B. Only CP!! Indeed, that was how I was sternly raised - with the cane on a bare backside from my religious mother - in the 1960s & 70s. So yes, that was my advocacy.
I also love the 7th photo. Oh my! So very Janus, B. The epitome of Janus's mantra in the 1970s - that daughters should receive a "sensible knickers down caning" when naughty at home. Yup! I stridently agree naturally, B. Sore botty & a look of distress. A fabulous, typical, Janus photo from the classic era.
Janus letters: one good lady wrote of how she & her sister went to stay with her best friends in the 1950s, two sisters with a strict mom. The word "sleepover" was not used in 1970s Janus. Loco parentis is the subject here, as so often in Janus.
Sadly, all four young girls misbehaved on a day trip & so were sentenced to have their bottoms smacked (the mom host rang the other mother to seek permission). The two guests were "shocked when Mrs Williams entered our bedroom carrying a cane". The two girls had to bend over the bed for "six of the best" over their pyjamas & knickers worn underneath. Some protection at least (albeit I disapprove of that as a practical, Spartan purist !!!)
Mrs Williams then went to the other room, to punish her young daughters but alas, they gotten 12 strokes each (Boo-Hoo!), and to their utter horror, listening, they discerned "the relentless sound of the cane upon the bare skin of their bottoms was distinctively heard along with their loud cries".
Wonderful, B. Oh my! The redoubtable Mrs Williams then told the guests, that yes, all punishments "in her house" for her young daughters were always with the cane and always on bare buttocks without question; but that "she did not get down to bare essentials, by way of compensation & compromise" for her two naughty, young,...and rather lucky, guests. A very British letter that one, B.
And Oh my! Oh my! I soooo love that Spartan differential, B. Bare botties on show for the cane for her daughters (as it should be!!) and over PJs for their besties ha-ha! She sure was a superhero mom of good, kind yet salutary intentions, B. Great letter :-)
Love the girl in photo 4 & the final one: pouty botty, already! Cute, B, especially no 4!
Photo 1: love the tan lines, albeit feint. This is our childhood spanking in essence B, for sister & me: 1950s white panties down for the rattan rod on our bare bots. So authentic & visceral. It is the Art of Caning Janus film 1979 by George Harrison Marks. Hugs n smackies n rubby-botties. Lovely photos! Good Spartan Brenda xx
Yes, pic 1, its a classic... but pic 2 the young secretary who was again late for work... pic 3 more modern, but well reddened bum... following pics are faceless... then the last two, and the last one with the pouty face is perfect! Hugs and smackies :) B xx
