    This is a delightfully Spartan & authentic sequence above, dearest, B. Wonderful! For sure, it's a classic, already. Sooooo reminds me of my happy, strict, religious, Southern childhood (1960s & 70s), when life was simple....and so were punishments at home. Indeed, it was the harsh "cane to bare botty" for sister & me, when naughty & disobedient, exactly as shown here. No questions!! And I approve, B. I have always approved, B!!!!

    Corporal punishment on bare princess' buttocks, AKA "a spanking" , AKA " a well-smacked bottom" was a guaranteed aspect of good, traditional, family life for y'all daughters... why, thank the Lord too, B!!!

    Oh my! It is nearly 50 years since I first discovered, Janus , B. The wise Janus editors stated (mid 1970s) that daughters at home should be given, quote: "a sensible, kickers-down caning" when misbehaving. I agree, B, I gotten that exact punishment from mom. Ditto my sister. I was pleased to see that British girls gotten the cane (or plimsoll) on their bare bottoms from good, traditional parents at home, 1950s-80s, and Janus Readers' Letters were mesmerizing & compelling. I have quoted some on your Blog, B.

    The rod on a bare botty sure whipped y'all girls into shape. And there were two lovely kind but very stern phrases my mother used which were scary at the time. But I soooo loved them, later in life, in retrospect. But she was so right to use them when we were young & wayward.

    First ,she said to me at a young age in the 1960s: " a stinging bottom right now will stop you getting into trouble when you are older, Brenda".

    Secondly, when I asked why she always raised my 1950s dress & then pulled down my 1950s panties to administer the rod on my bare buttocks (a thin, flexible rattan cane) she calmy, purposefully & succinctly said "because it is punishment, Brenda !"
    GULP! GULP! GULP!
    Oh my! Sure taught me not to ask rhetorical questions, B. Boo-Hoo! And to not misbehave!!!

    Moreover, these two delightfully cute quotes explain why punishment was always panties down and cane to bare botty for me!! Why, IT STINGS!! Indeed, no ineffective, useless hand smacks over our dresses & petticoats needed !!!! No ma'am!
    Mom had no wishy-washy attitudes/half-measures re smacked botties for we girls. Chastisements were harsh! Cane in cupboard. Daughters' bare of botties. Cane to latter !

    I've written about my delightful relationships with lovely, kind, strict Nigerian moms, who I gotten to meet working in a global corporation in Atlanta (ie my visiting Nigerian colleagues) , & I have known many of these moms over decades (emails, face time of course) & gotten to learn that naughty daughters certainly get their bare bottoms caned at home in good, traditional, aspiring families! Oh yes!
    The strap is also used but the cane is the main botty smacker, as it was for me growing up. So I was mesmerized to discover this cultural trait.

    Indeed, I remember the Janus, Ghanian model Penny Wise, early 1980s. I was in my early 20s, working at the big Corp, & fascinated to read her interview. She stated how her girlfriend besties gotten caned at home in Ghana & how this was simply normal CP. There was no bare bottom reference (sadly) but over the years I had this bare bottom fact unanimously endorsed (unsurprisingly) by my strict & candid West African moms/friends. And re this domestic, maternal cane stinging naughty girls' bare botties - well, It was vey much a culture of "like mother, like daughter," already. Quite right too, B!!!

    Furthermore, I also have friendships & communication with mothers from Singapore (also via Atlanta Corp) & the cane is famously used to sting naughty girls' bare backsides in good, strict families there too! Tiger Moms' CP good. PC bad!
